Want a career where success depends more on your people skills than just a piece of paper? Strata management could be the answer. Here are 5 reasons why you should grow your strata management career with Whittles:
Being a national company offers several benefits to both Whittles and our employees:
What else do you get when you work for a company with a national footprint? Opportunities. This is Whittles’ point of difference. With branches in South Australia, Queensland, Victoria, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory, and 200 employees nationally, there are opportunities for you to progress your career. All vacancies are advertised internally first so our staff have the opportunity to apply, transfer departments and potentially relocate to another branch interstate if desired.
Whittles is dedicated to supporting your professional development and has a National Training Program for strata managers and a similar initiative for assistant strata managers. These initiatives confirm our commitment to continuous learning and development ensuring you’re constantly expanding your skillset. Learning extends beyond formal training; your day to day team interactions will provide you with valuable insights and practical experience to manage and resolve issues.
Whittles is introducing a flexible working policy to help staff manage their professional and personal commitments. By offering flexibility, strata managers can manage their own diaries and maintain a healthy work-life balance. We’re also trialling a work from home arrangement. While working from home has its benefits, there are big advantages to being in the office. We encourage spending 70 – 80 per cent of your week in the office sharing knowledge, building connections and collaborating with colleagues in real life.
If you want a job for life, there’s one in strata management. Strata managers will always be in demand because they’re required by law. This job security means you can enjoy a long career if you work hard and do the right thing. Whittles also offers good incentives to increase your earning capacity and progress your career if that’s what you’d like to do.
With nine branches around the country, Whittles promotes a national ‘one team culture’. We’re committed to supporting each other no matter where we’re located and recently employed a dedicated People and Culture Manager to realise our company vision and promote a positive culture.
There’s a variety of pathways into a strata management career at Whittles. If you don’t have any experience, our central support team is an ideal entry point before progressing to assistant strata manager, strata manager and, ultimately, branch manager.
Central support team members have the opportunity to be employed on a casual, part-time or full-time basis so it’s perfect for people needing flexibility or wanting to re-enter the workforce. If you’re already experienced in the strata industry, Whittles offers a seamless transition into our team at a level that matches your experience. Whichever path you choose, Whittles is committed to working with you so you can reach your potential.
Here’s the good news: you don’t need a university qualification for a career in strata management. Some providers offer a Certificate IV in Strata Community Management and while it’s great if you’ve got one, it’s not essential.
Here are the basic pre-requisites for a successful strata management career:
You’ll need more highly developed skills the further you progress in Whittles. When it comes to people skills, for example, assistant strata managers need to be confident dealing with external contractors. Strata managers, on the other hand, must be able to bring a group of individual owners together and have them agree on their projects and priorities for the coming year. They also need to be good listeners and problem solvers so they can identify and resolve issues amicably. Branch managers need good people skills too to lead by example and guide their teams towards success.
If you have exceptional people skills and are looking for a role that gives you more control over your career pathway and potential earnings, consider a career in strata management at Whittles. Visit our website or contact us to discuss our current opportunities.
